Symptoms
The youngest leaf is withered, rolled and shows a bleached, whitish to light brown colour. Chlorosis begins at the leaf tips.

Symptoms
The calcium deficient plant shows yellowing and withering of younger leaf tips.
Older leaves don't express chlorosis, but bend over.
General plant growth is stunted.
Roots are much shorter and look dark brown. Calcium deficiency can result in impaired root function and my predispose the rice plant to iron deficiency.

- Acidic soils
- Sandy or light soils (leaching)
- Acid peat soils
- Soils rich in sodium
- Soils rich in aluminium
- Drought conditions
- Fruit high in nitrogen or potassium
- Large fruit
