Oilseed Rape - Deformation
Symptoms
Symptoms of calcium deficiency are visible on younger leaves first. Starting from leaf tips and margins, they become pale green to grey brown. The lamina is shrivelled, ripped and shows a fluttering appearance.
The young leaves of the top shoots are deformed and their tips are bent down.

Calcium deficiency
Calcium deficiency made worse by
- Acidic soils
- Sandy or light soils (leaching)
- Acid peat soils
- Soils rich in sodium
- Soils rich in aluminium
- Drought conditions
- Fruit high in nitrogen or potassium
- Large fruit
